Important tools in the revitalization of old industrial cities, bike ways, pedestrian areas and transit play a role.  Cleveland, Ohio is one of many cities that are making a come back from their gritty past to revitalize into centers for tourism, high tech industry and culture.  On my 1993 bike trip across the US, I hardly knew I was in a city as I rode from park to park on a trail system known as the "Metro Parks Bypass."  It took me right through the Cleveland Metropolitan area.


In a few cases the worlds are only separated by fence lines and overpasses.
